GI Joe 2 Retaliation - Trailer

GI Joe 2 comes under the genre of action/Si-Fi.

The trailer starts with a long shot, allowing the audience to get an idea of the area that they are in, a man on a bike rides into shot and stops, the lighting is low-key giving the sense of danger and mystery. We fade away to show an arsenal of guns, giving the audience that glimpse of the high tech weaponry in the film. we then cut back to the man on the bike but now in a close up of his hands holding a tube, which turns out to be full of tiny robotic spy bugs. This really sinks the audience into that high tech Si-Fi feeling of the film.
This trailer uses a series of short clips, allowing them to show as much of the high tension moments that are really going to draw the audience in, but because the clips are short it won't reveal any key plots/twists of the film that they don't want to.

The camera angles that are used when showing the GI Joe team are slightly low angles, giving the team that look of authority. The audience know that this team is in power at this time. Then the helicopters attack, and for all the shots showing them the camera is at a very low angle, allowing the audience to get the feeling that these weapons have full authority and power over the scene. Once the attack is over and the GI Joe team have emerged from their hiding place then are shown with high angle shots, showing that this attack has wounded them, not physically but mentally and emotionally. We now get the sense that they no longer have the power.

The makers want the audience to be amazed both by the things that GI Joe have and do, and also by what the makers of the film have done with special effects, cinematography, ect. This is done by once again showing short clips of men picking up guns, preparing their swords
